I'm still alive and drawing ^_~

So it's been quite some time since I've posted. I blame it on the fact that I moved and took two months to get around to setting the internet up. It is now done so here you are. Some of my tangles from the last couple months.
This is one of my favorites. I love how it turned out.

The top tangle is a variation of Hibred that I like to call Mountains

The bottom tangle is one I designed and named Wicker

The top left tangle is one I call Twill. It's based on a basic weaving pattern and took me a while to get right

As you can tell I have much more fun doing Zentangle inspired art. I find the 3.5" square gets kind of boring and come up with more interesting shapes to fill. I also like making new patterns or modifying old ones. If you have questions about them let me know and I'll post some instructions

Daily Double

So this post gets the results from two challenges, this week's using straight lines. I had fun with this one because I tend to prefer grid patterns and straight lines over circles

And last week's using only your non-dominant hand, so for me all left-handed. I found this one intriguing, but enjoyable. It took a little longer cause I was concentrating more on what I was doing.

So I have realized that I'm not a dedicated blogger... *shrugs* Oh well. Other things are more important to me, like baking, or being social, or riding my bike now that the weather is nice enough again. But here are some recent tangles ^_^  The first two are from a challenge to use only one pattern for the whole tile. It was fun.

Using Betweed - I have to say I love the variations you can do with this pattern
Striping
This is one I did just because. The two in the bottom are variations I've come up with to make things more interesting, and I think it adds more character to the pattern. The one on the left I want to call Mountains because it's all pointy and so are mountains ^_^

Artoo

This week's challenge was to use Laura's new tangle Artoo... it's the one on the right.

Yay for challenges completed on time ^_^

And here are a couple other tangles I've done somewhat recently. There are times when I can't think of anything to use for a string so I just use a pattern for the string and fill it in... It seems to be working well for me ^_^

Hearted

This week's challenge was to do something with hearts using two previous challenges. I used Ixorus and Simplicity. I actually finished this one relatively early in the week, at least for me, and then got busy and forgot to post it until... well, today...

Something New

So I have been rather busy lately, having a social life, which has left little time for zentangling, so this is my tile for last weeks challenge to use Ixorus. I took it one step further and used only patterns I'd never done before.

I have to say I really like the look of Ixorus, especially the variation on it.

Weekly Challenge

So my cousin Laura, who is a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT) does a weekly zentangle challenge on her blog starting each Monday. This week's challenge was to do with orbs, or circles. I've never really been a huge fan of drawing circles. I prefer squares and such, but after some thought I decided to use another pattern for my string and then fill the spaces. I think it worked pretty well ^_^

Tangled

So back in August, near the beginning of the month, I was riding my bike home from work, and somehow crashed my bike and woke up in the hospital.
In pain!

Not fun!

I don't recommend this to anyone. I'd scraped my hands and face up pretty good, gotten a serious concussion, and broke my top two front teeth, which are still rather sensitive and I'm not really supposed to use them, which is really not fun. I called my Mom from the hospital, after they took me for x-rays to make sure I hadn't broken anything. She drove two hours to come take care of me, and took me home for a week so I could recover.

While I was home recuperating, this involved a great deal of sleeping  and eating mostly mush because of my poor teeth, fortunately I didn't have much of an appetite because, as I've learned, mush is not very filling for very long, Mom introduced me to zentangles. Being of a somewhat artistic nature I was intrigued by how simple it was to make these complicated looking designs.

See.
Incredibly awesome and complicated looking. Really easy to draw. I did this one at work on a sheet or 8 X 10 printer paper. It took a while cause I'm kind of a perfectionist... and I did it during my lunch break, so maybe 20 minutes a day.

Since then I've had the idea for creating a blog titled 'All Tangled Up' cause I think it sounds kinda cool, and it sort of describes my life, although it's less tangled now then it was when I first came up with this idea. With the exception of my teeth, I've pretty much recovered completely from my accident, and want to start riding my bike again... However the weather is not co-operating so much and the roads are rather snow covered and icy. Not ideal biking conditions. I started a new job, one that can actually be considered a career, that I enjoy, and I'm able to have slightly more of a social life cause I don't have to be up quite as early in the morning. So here it is, my first attempt at blogging.
